Having a high risk pregnancy, suffering a loss and/or having a baby wind up with an N.I.C.U. stay can be an overwhelming, scary, frustrating and isolating experience for many families.
Patient+Family Care understands that there will be a wide variety of emotions, struggles and challenges for parents, and that everyone’s experience will be unique to them. We want to help provide comfort and support to as many families as possible by directly offering education and resources from Patient+Family Care and also provide a list of other amazing resources that are available to families.
We are passionate about helping families that find themselves on a bed resting journey ,through the NICU and beyond. We want to help make the experience as stress free as possible by offering information, education, resources and support. Patient+Family Care wants to help EMPOWER parents to embrace the reality of their unique situation.
Parent Education Opportunities
Parenting In the NICU and Beyond:
This is an online and interactive course. This course helps connect families who have a child in the NICU or who are NICU graduates, with other parents that are or have been in a very similar situation. The class is facilitated by a neonatal nurse who has worked directly with families in crisis for many years, and has a true passion for helping improve the NICU experience through education, information, connection, community and support.
This course explores a range of topics from:
- Admission to the NICU
- Mom’s discharge home
- Making the hospital a home away from home
- Surviving the ups and downs and inconsistencies
- Balancing other children
- How to manage other life responsibilities
- Balancing relationships
- Preparing for discharge
- Life after the NICU
This course will offer time for reflection, sharing stories, learning from others, and having the chance to ask any question you have to a professional who has worked in this field and wants to help parents’ get through this time, both while in the NICU and beyond hospital discharge.

Surviving Pregnancy Bedrest:
Being put on bedrest during your pregnancy can be an overwhelming, scary, frustrating and isolating experience for many families. This course was designed by a nurse who has worked directly with families in crisis for over 15 years, and has a true passion for helping improve the perinatal experience during through education, information, connection, community and support.
This course will explore a range of topics from:
- What is bedrest
- Why are women put on bedrest
- What types of bedrest might you experience
- How to alleviate physical side effects
- How to stay healthy while on bedrest
- Managing the emotional and mental health of mom to be and others
- How to make sure you don’t miss out on the pregnancy “normals” that you look forward to.
This course will offer time for reflection, sharing stories, learning from others, and having the chance to ask any question you have to a professional who has worked in this field and wants to help you get through this time!
